Mermaid goddess hoop earrings are designed without a butterfly back so as not to spoil the continuous hoop design. Insert the sterling silver post and push it all the way through until the bronze part of the hoop touches the front of your lobe. That creates a good balance in the ear and positions the mermaid tail perfectly. If you prefer to have a back we would suggest using clear plastic earring backs which come with each pair of mermaid hoops.
